Description
So why is Finca El Molino called Finca El Molino? Well that’s actually an easy one. Because the builder of this house was Catalan and a great fan of olive oil. He liked nothing better than to contemplate this rich, golden liquid being released from the freshly harvested olives by the turning of the grindstone and thence into the old stone reservoirs which was the traditional way of making oil in the area. No wonder he acquired a huge grind-stone with a diameter of 5 meters and turned it into a stone table complete with stone stools for 10 lucky people invited for a barbecue. In fact, just behind this impressive structure is a covered summer kitchen with, you have guessed, a barbecue area. On one side of this was a home cinema with screen but is now used as a storage area while at the other side of the kitchen is another, smaller storage shed. In fact this outhouse structure holds out the possibility of turning it into a guest chalet of 80m2 approx. And thence to the very cute main house of 102m2, very modern in its interior design with an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area with three light-filled bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large porch with a tiled roof. And beside this there is no less than a stone-built bespoke barbecue hut of 26m2 complete with stone barbecue, seating area and table, and you have guessed it, made from another decorative grindstone. There is an elevated pool with views of the delta and a large garage of 60m2. The pool has a solar pumping system which means the water is always perfect. In fact finca el Molino is a complex of buildings all in close proximity to each other totalling a built area of 264m2. Now the amazing thing is the entire property is fenced, an area of 15,392m2 and, the Catalan builder knowing the tradtionos of masias in the area, made a rather grand and elegant entrance that runs up to the house between a series of columns that support old vines. The finca is actually super productive, there is a high yield from the olive trees which are planted commercially in viable linear patterns. And there is other good news. It has its own well and cisterna, and has both an electrical connection to the electricity grid as well as a powerful solar system to power all the needs of the house. Other good news for lovers of sea-swimming is tat the finca is just 2.6 kilometers to Ampolla with its beaches and restaurants and just 4km to the market town of Camarles. The asking price is €350,000 (negotiable) which means if you are looking for a finca in the privileged area of the Ebro delta, protected by UNESCO, then ‘El Molino’ might be well worth visiting.
